Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has issued a public apology after receiving loss of life threats on social media for attending a Kali Puja inauguration in Kolkata.
The former Bangladesh skipper, however, denied inaugurating the puja and said he became part of the program that followed. He also apologized for hurting the feelings of his supporters. “Media, social media everywhere it became flooded that I went to Kolkata to inaugurate a puja ceremony which truly turned into no longer the cause behind my visit and I did not inaugurate puja,” Shakib stated in a Facebook Live.
“The puja became inaugurated by Firhad Hakim, mayor of Kolkata. In my invitation card it turned into really noted that I was no longer the chief guest for puja,” he said. “Being a working towards Muslim, I constantly try to comply with the religious customs. Please forgive me if I actually have completed anything wrong,” he said.
